In my scout program, I learned that there are many ways to hike safely, but the most important one is always remembering the following:. 

1. Make sure you bring water

2. You may want to bring someone with you or tell them where you are going

3. Excellent footwear

4. Make sure you are dressed appropriately 

Because I'm hiking on a trail with multiple buildings and tour guides everywhere, I can get by with what I've got. In contrast, if I had gone on the longer trails, I would have needed a backpack containing warm clothing and more food and water!
